070 telephone numbers were introduced by OFCOM in the mid 1990s when it was not possible to port your telephone number from one service provider to another. These numbers had the unique capability of being able to divert to any landline or mobile anywhere in the world free of charge.

070 Follow Me Call Forwarding

Using an online control panel or a telephone, subscribers could easily change the system to divert calls to different destinations whenever they needed to. Many subscribers had different telephone numbers for their home, work and mobile, however in this case the caller would only have to know the 070 number and be able to reach the subscriber.

The caller would call the 070 number and the system would hunt for the subscriber on all phone numbers until answered or after a certain number of rings would go to answerphone.

The subscriber could prioritise which number should be tried first, second, or third.

070 Virtual Switchboard Call Forwarding

This service allows subscribers to guide callers to the right department within their organisation by using a voice menu. For example: Press 1 for sales and 2 for accounts etc.

Or you can provide information messages for different products or services. For example: Press 1 for directions to the cinema and 2 for showtimes etc.
